Depression, Anxiety, and Parkinson's Disease Lead Investigator: Allen Kluttz Institution : Nova Southeastern University E-Mail : ak1085@mynsu.nova.edu Proposal ID : 769 Proposal Description: Kluttz (2015) found that PD was not associated with depression and anxiety, but gender interactions with depression and anxiety. The previous, database (NHIS) produced less than optimal data in light of some assumption violations. It is possible there were other health conditions, which were not controlled, in this previous study. This abstract will attempt a new analysis with more strict comorbid exclusionary criteria and potential moderators that need consideration. Therefore, this research hopes to determine if Parkinson's disease is associated with increased risk of depression and anxiety. If this study finds that those with Parkinson's disease have an increased risk for mood disorders, mental health screening may be deemed necessary and it could improve the lives of those with Parkinson's disease.
